Yep, we finally moved into our new home. *big grin*

We love our everything about our new house--well. almost. everything.

This is what I found in the atrium last week
...

Picture
To those that are not familiar with the desert--this is a scorpion...  They scare the sh** out of me. (period)

Of course, I immediately contacted "pest control" and scheduled bi-monthly visits to keep the critters out of the house--if only it were that simple.

Yesterday--as I was making my pre-sleep sweep through the house (looking for any signs of scorpions) I found this!

Picture
YES, that's a black widow--if you haven't seen one up close, it looks exactly, EXACTLY like this picture as it hangs out inconspicuously in the corner of the garage.

I have taken Raid to every crook and crevice in this blasted house...

So what did I find belly up in the bathroom today?

Picture
I'm so NOT cut out for living in the desert.

Yeesh, add some big centipedes in and you've got most of the nasty insects/arachnids! Congrats on the new house, and if I were you, I would be carrying a fly swatter and other various killing accessories around with me at all times!

Hi E.L.!

Fortunately I've only seen the small centipedes--they look almost friendly in comparison... dashing across the floor... I like your idea--I'll need to invest in a "safety belt" of sorts--Raid, swatter, hammer--all the bug killing necessities! (Yeesh is right!) Thanks for stopping by :)

Thanks Julia--just what I needed to hear ;)

I've actually been watching the bushes and field next door very closely, too--it would be my luck...

CONGRATS on moving into your new home! :)

Eeeewwwwwww! Hopefully all your unwanted visitors will be gone with the bi-monthly pest control visits...*shudder*!

Yes, I miss you - but I respect your priorities - especially with Kate being so young and you being in the classroom this year...but I still miss you! :)

Nicole,
Hey! Just hit your link for the first time in quite a while and saw that you had recently posted. Congrats on the new house. Hope the creepy-crawlys don't freak you out too much. Every area has its problems. Btw, how's the new neighborhood look for running?

Hi Joe!

Well, I'm trying not to get too creeped out--isn't working ;)

The neighborhood is awesome for running, now if it would cool down a bit--even at 6 a.m. it's 90 degrees.

Hope you are doing well! I'll stop by and visit your blog soon--Take care--Nicole

I stopped by to see if something might be happening here and low and behold, a new post (at least it is new to me). Those bugs are horrific and I would definitely have already packed my bags and moved to the big city. I am usually OK with bugs, but not deadly bugs.

Hi Nicole,
It has been a while since I've been here to see you. I am happy for you that you are in your new house. I can not stand bugs, I feel for you and your family. Glad you called the pest control people. Be careful and take good care! :-)
