How do you like your chocolate chip cookies?  Thin and crisp?  Thick and chewy?  Thin and chewy?  Thick and crisp?  Well, believe it or not, there is a way to get the perfect cookie every time--and depending on your taste, you can adjust your recipe to achieve the results you desire.

I'm going to start today with my favorite--thick and chewy!  YUM!

Ingredients

1  cup  butter--room temp
1 1/2  cups  firmly packed brown sugar
2  large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons  vanilla
2 1/2  cups  all-purpose flour
1  teaspoon  baking soda
1/2  teaspoon  salt
2  cups  semisweet chocolate chips
1  cup  chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

How easy is this?

1. Beat butter and brown sugar until well blended. Beat in eggs and vanilla until smooth.

2. In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir or beat into butter mixture until well incorporated. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts, if using.

3. Drop dough 2-tablespoon in size--2 inches apart on buttered  baking sheet.

4. Bake in a 375° oven until cookies are lightly or golden browned--depending on preference--8-12 minutes; if baking more than one pan at a time, you may switch pan positions halfway through baking.

5. Transfer cookies to racks to cool.

These are a great treat during the holidays, and a yummy comfort food all winter long--DELICIOUS!

Ooooh, YUM! I love that the recipe is 'adjustable' - I like my chocolate chip cookies thick and chewy (and cold-milk-dunkable) where my hubby prefers them thin and crisp...it'll be nice to have a 'proven' recipe to do both! ;) thanks for sharing!

Yum, I love chocolate chip cookies. Maybe we will make some this week while the ladies are home from school. What a good idea.

NICOLE! NO YOU DIDN'T.

You are wrong for this...

You always have these goodies on your page that go against every diet I'm breaking this holiday season. Now, I have to march myself to the kitchen for some cobbler. You've piqued my sweet tooth again.

Boo!

Hi Stacy!

I hope you'll like the thin and crisp recipe, too--that's next in my chocolate-chip-cookie-series-because-I-have-nothing-else-to-blog-about post. :)

Hi Anne!

Nothing beats cookies and milk after school on a cold wintry day... :) Hope your dog is doing better today!

Hi Davida!

Cobbler?! I'm pretty good at resisting goodies--but COBBLER? YUMMY! Will you share your recipe? (delicious!) Hope you're enjoying your new home!

Hi Robin!

I like cookie dough. Period. YUM--it's definitely hard when you have a little one and you like to cook--I find myself always questioning if I should try the treats I'm making (I always have a smidge anyways) Hope you're staying warm!

Hi Erin,

Chocolate chip cookies are the best because they're so darn easy and so hard to mess up--if you do try them, let me know how you like 'em! Take care~

These sound fabulous. I am desperate to try them but it's 10pm here and I don't have and brown sugar. Sob! Sob!
