Okay, so I’ve talked a lot about going organic on this blog—but the reality is that most of us live on a budget that makes buying everything organic almost impossible.  But there are good reasons to at least invest in organic products for your little ones.  We made that decision early on with Kate, and we believe that she is healthier because of it.  Remember…

Children do consume more--that is relative to their body mass--than do adults.

Children consume foods that rank higher in pesticide load—fruits, vegetables, and juice.

*The University of Washington (Go Huskies!) recently published a study that showed that children age two to four that ate organic fruits and veggies had six times less measurable pesticide in their bodies.*

One of the best tips for buying some organic products is to buy fruits and vegetables seasonally.  Right now red grapes are in stock—load up on them.  Wash ‘em up and keep them handy.

Find out which items are the least expensive to buy organic.  Bananas, carrots, and spinach, for example, are available year round and won’t break the budget.

What’s good in November?  Look for…

Apples
Bananas
Lemons
Pears
Oranges
Artichokes
Asparagus
Beanshoots
Broccoli
Cabbage
Carrots
Cauliflower
Cucumbers
Lettuce
Mushrooms
Onions
Spinach

*And just a reminder—try to buy your organics in glass containers—avoid BPA when feeding your children*

You really have great wellness/health tips for kids and families!

And the toolbar was a great hint from MomDot. Thanks for downloading it. You know, if you visit Country Bobs and and come back with a recipe title you get an entry in the sauce contest. And for downloading the toolbar you get three more. :) You should enter...

Oh ...and the toolbar. I am going to be posting tidbits of upcoming contests on it. And there is a chat feature. But we need more people to play before it gets super fun.
