All right, so not only do we do harm to our bodies from eating unhealthy crap, we also expose ourselves to all kinds of nasty ingredients through the use of our personal care products. This may be one of the hardest things for you to change—but our personal care products contain a variety of chemical additives that are simply not healthy.
Just recently a study was released that measured chemical compounds in teenage girls’ blood from using cosmetics—what they found was alarming. All kinds of chemicals were seeping in to young girls’ bodies from their makeup.
What should you do? Start small, but begin to replace personal care products with alternative, healthier choices. You can buy cosmetics made from minerals and natural ingredients; some natural shampoos, toothpastes and deodorants can be found in your local supermarket or health food store, others you can find online. Start out with products that you use the most frequently over large parts of your body—like shampoo, lotions, deodorants, and toothpaste. Then keep replacing your products until you’ve created a healthier approach to your personal care…
There is evidence to suggest that these chemical compounds can be carcinogenic--it's up to you to read labels and make choices that will ultimately impact your longevity.
I haven't gone completely "natural" with regard to personal care--but the more I read, the more I realize that we are poisoning our bodies daily... Even replacing a few products can remove harmful toxins from our bodies. Recently, I switched my moisturizer to Alba--I'm hooked. Before, I had purchased Stri-Vectin to see if that would reduce some of my scars from surgeries, and I also used it on my face because I was curious about this "wrinkle" phenomenon--driven by mass media. My results were negligible. With the natural daily cream from Alba, I've actually seen a difference in the overall appearance of my skin--enough for me to keep buying it. Again, it will likely take time until you find products that you like--start small, but make the commitment to find personal care items that support a healthier you!
