This morning...

Kate:  Mommy, I want some candy.

Mommy: No honey, you need to have some healthy food for breakfast.

Kate:  No thanks, Mommy.  I'm going to have some candy. (Moving chair to candy drawer.)

Mommy:  I don't think so.  Who's the boss?

Kate:  You are Mommy.  But, you know what? I'm gonna change my name.

Mommy:  You are?  What are you going to change your name to?

Kate:  I'm changing it to (long pause) I'm changing it to Mommy (big grin). 

(Ha, ha... Smart thinking, but I'll still be the boss!)

                            Later today...

Kate:  Mommy, I ate all my grapes and envelopes...

Mommy:  You ate what?

Kate:  I ate all my grapes and envelopes (oh! cantaloupe).  Can I have some candy now?

Mommy: (Still rationing the Halloween candy, of course.)  Alright, but only one piece...

Kate:  Oh Mommy, (Very dramatically now!)  2 treats are even better than 1.   2 is always better than 1.
